I am incredibly lucky and privileged to once again visit my favourite country in the world.
This time there was no work, no restrictions, it was simply for me and my camera.
I stopped over in my 'home' town of Yokohama, to renew old acquaintances and acclimatise myself to the pace of city life before moving on to Kyoto, A city I have never before visited.
Kyoto is a small city by comparison to the likes of Tokyo and I fell In love with the place and the people. Sadly with only three days I had to be selective with my itinerary, I couldn’t and didn’t want to see everything, rather spending time to get to know one or two places with a little more intimacy.
Following Kyoto I headed for the mountains to sample a more traditional Japan, with relaxing outdoor hot springs 'Onsen' and old style hospitality. This was an experience I would recommend to anyone prepared to immerse themselves in the real Japan, you won't regret it.
Sadly it was all too soon to be returning to Tokyo for my flight home, my plan was to see the early 'Sakura' cherry blossom in Ueno Park but the cold weather slowed down the blossom by a couple of days and the rain tried to spoil the day entirely. For me it just gave added opportunities to collect memories… Japan never disappoints.
This is a small selection of my memories
